Firefighters Called to 40 Deliberate Fires Every Day Last Summer

Firefighters in Scotland were called to 40 deliberate fires every day last summer, according to new figures. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said there were 5,764 deliberate fires in the 12-month period from June 2018 to May 2019, an increase of 10% on the previous year.

The SFRS said the figures were "unacceptable" and urged the public to be more responsible. The service is now working with partners to develop a new strategy to tackle deliberate fire-setting.

Number of E. Coli Cases in Scotland Surges Amid Huge Sandwich Recall

The number of E. coli cases in Scotland has surged in recent weeks, with 23 people now confirmed to have been infected. The outbreak is linked to a pre-packed sandwich made by Marks & Spencer, which has now been recalled.

Public Health Scotland has urged anyone who has eaten the sandwich to seek medical advice if they experience any symptoms of E. coli infection, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach cramps. The symptoms can develop up to 10 days after eating contaminated food.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is investigating the outbreak and has said that the recall of the sandwich is a precautionary measure.
